Byway’s Love the Journey Guarantee

Making slow travel joyful, every step of the way.

Travel slowly, confidently, and joyfully. Every Byway vacation comes with our Love the Journey Guarantee, your promise of expert planning, real human support, and fair treatment if things don’t go as planned. Whether you’re setting out on a train adventure across Europe or taking a relaxing rail vacation closer to home, we make every step personal, simple, and stress-free.

Expert planning

Travel designed by people who know the routes inside out.

  • You’ll always have a real slow travel expert to talk to, not a bot or a call centre script.
  • You'll benefit from our two million miles of real rail experience from travellers and experts, and years of running five-star-rated slow travel trips. We know the best stopovers, the most scenic routes, realistic transfer times, comfiest sleepers, and all the other quirks and opportunities of travelling over land and sea. Not only does our team have this expertise - our technology does, too. So if you design a trip online, you'll have the same benefits.
  • Your personalised Trip Guide contains all of your tickets, accommodation details and ideas for where to go so you can focus on the experience, not the logistics.
  • If your ticket is booked with an Interrail pass, we’ll provide training and support on how to use their app so you can set up your trip ahead of your trip.
  • If your plans change, we’ll guide you through your options fairly and transparently, whether that means tweaking your route or helping you reschedule or cancel.

Superb support

Deep experiences, without the stress.

  • You’ll be invited to a WhatsApp support chat for on-trip questions and live disruption rerouting.
  • Before the trip, you can discuss your Interrail/Eurail pass setup with us anytime, or attend one of our workshops for a social experience with other travelers.
  • If your journey is disrupted or delayed, we will provide quick assistance, working with you to provide the best reasonable alternative at no extra cost to get you back on track.
  • You’ll have access to our 24/7 emergency phone line for urgent issues, where a Byway expert will be ready to help.
  • If we have to make a significant change to your trip before traveling, you can cancel or choose a new adventure, free of charge.

Business assurance

Trust and fairness are at the heart of everything we do.

  • We’re a certified B Corp, committed to using travel as a force for good.
  • All of our holidays are financially protected, so your money is protected.
  • If we let you down, we’ll own it, apologise sincerely, and fix what we can quickly and issue appropriate compensation if we can’t.

Because you loving the journey helps us advance our mission.

From the first spark of inspiration to the moment you return home, we make slow train and rail travel personal, simple, and joyful. Our Love the Journey Guarantee helps you explore Europe’s lesser-known routes with confidence, knowing we’re with you every step of the way.

When you love your journey, we hope you’ll travel slowly again (with or without us), and share the joys of slow travel with others. And making slow travel mainstream is why we’re here!
