In celebration of: occasion travel
Alisa Orlova
There's a sense of occasion in the air that lingers after summer's passed. There's been a flurry of engagements and summer parties, and wedding season is still in full swing. Exam results have been celebrated (or commiserated), and the Libras amongst us are raising a glass to another journey around the sun. As the nights start to draw in, life begins to slow down a little but that doesn't mean the revelry needs to stop.
When it comes to travel, a holiday should always feel celebratory. With moments to toast over the Amalfi sunset, or mark a new chapter overlooking a city skyline. Our motto? Celebrate the big - and the small. Do it well, and do it often. Here's our 101 for making your next trip feel *extra* special. For the honeymoon, birthday - or just because.

Go first-class
That touch of je ne sais quoi. For lovers of the finer things in life: go first class. Start your journey in comfort with wider seats and quieter carriages (plus lounge access and at-seat dining on some services).

The art of surprise
Keep them guessing. The Eurostar lounge at St Pancras is the meeting point: let the rest unfold through the train window. And who's to say you didn't book all the tickets yourself? We won't tell if you don't.

Spa stay
The out-of-office is on. There are white robes and soft towels. Smells of eucalyptus, tastes of champagne. You needn't go far, either: turn on the bubbles at one of our top UK spa breaks for the ultimate celebratory staycation.

Memorable experiences
Lock in a local experience to mark the occasion. Like a pottery-throwing class in Marrakech, or pasta-making in a Tuscan wine cellar. *chef's kiss*

Go alfresco
Swap the swanky dinner for an all-out picnic. Pack a blanket, wicker basket, and a smorgasbord of delights from a neighbourhood deli. Up the ante with candles, fresh flowers and real glasses to bring home as a keepsake.

Go big
Because sometimes more is more. Really big adventures - for really big occasions. Honeymoons, babymoons, new moons (or any other moons). Lifetime adventures you've been saving for something special. The time is now!
