Staying safe online

We have had multiple reports of a recruiting scam that is currently using our logo, images and name.

We have requested a takedown of these sites - but wanted to raise some awareness and give some tips on staying safe online and avoiding scams.

Job postings

This is where you can find our official job listings - or on our LinkedIn.

  • We do not contact over WhatsApp, Telegram or social media for recruitment and we would not ask for payment for job applications.

  • Our legitimate contact addresses can be found here. If you’re unsure if an email or message is from us please contact hello@byway.travel and we will be able to confirm for you.

  • We do not ask employees or contractors to pay for things out of their own bank account and then claim the expense back.

  • We do not use any crypto-currency or crypto wallets in our business

  • We are a London-based company and do not have offices anywhere else.

Fake websites

Some scammers imitate websites to try and make themselves look legitimate. Here are some ways to spot fake sites:

  • Check the URL. Our official URLs are:

    • https://trip.byway.travel/ when clicking on a trip or for a journey guide

    • https://careers.byway.travel/ for jobs

    • https://gift.byway.travel/ for gift cards

If it’s something different (for instance “www.byway-work.com”) it’s likely a scam.

  • Check for a secure connection. Ensure the website uses HTTPS rather than HTTP. Look for a padlock icon in the address bar.

  • Keep an eye out for grammar/spelling mistakes. Poor grammar and spelling mistakes can be red flags.

What to do if you think you’ve been scammed

  • If you’ve given any money or personal information, please contact the police and your bank.

  • Don’t click on any links or files sent by the scammer.

  • Do not continue to engage with the scammer.

  • It’s a good idea to change your passwords for added security.
