First class upgrade terms and conditions

Applies to eligible marked trips booked between 09/02/2026 and 26/03/2026 (23:59 GMT) with departure dates between 15/04/2026 and 31/12/26.

The offer upgrades your Interrail/Eurail pass to first class, which gives you an upgraded seat on daytime trains outside your country of residence, subject to availability.

Offer subject to seat availability. It may not be possible to upgrade your seats on all trains or routes. Compensation will not be provided where upgraded seats are unavailable. Booking well in advance helps with availability.

Trains with more than two class options will include an upgrade from standard to the next class up, rather than the highest class. For example, Eurostar Plus, not Eurostar Premier, and Trenitalia Business, not Trenitalia Executive.

Sleeper trains, ferries and buses are excluded.

Paper travel passes aren’t eligible. We book digital passes as standard, but if you request paper passes after booking, the upgrade will no longer apply and our standard paper pass fees will be charged.

You must have checked the ‘free first-class travel’ box at the top of the itinerary at the time of booking to redeem the offer. This will default to checked on eligible trips but if you uncheck it, your trip will not qualify.

Any major changes requested post-booking will be subject to our standard major changes policy. Rebooked trips and trips with major changes will no longer be eligible for the upgrade.

In the event of cancellation of an eligible trip, where a cancellation refund or voucher is applied an ineligible trip, the first-class upgrade will not be carried over.
