Hi! I’m James.

I create slow travel holidays for my customers daily. Scroll for my current favourites!

Ghent and Utrecht

Just a few hours from London, Ghent and Utrecht are brimming with culture, impressive architecture and warm cafes. I love these two cities as they are free from the crowds of Bruges and Amsterdam. In these two cities you can find the best of Belgium and the Netherlands in a far more authentic way.

I recommend renting a bike from Utrecht’s futuristic central station and joining the locals as you pedal through one of the world’s premier cycling cities. In Ghent one of my favourite things to do is simply sip on a coffee beside the banks of Ghent’s River Lys and gaze upon medieval cityscapes.

South-east Europe

My absolute favourite part of our continent - experience spectacular natural beauty with this slow travel journey to South-east Europe. On your way to sea I recommend staying over night at Plitvice National Park - wake up early to wander the turquoise lakes and dramatic waterfalls! As you journey between Croatia’s coastal cities, a highly worthwhile excursion is one inland to the city of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Famous for its ancient bridge and beautiful old town you will be sure to enjoy this unique European city. My trip concludes in Dubrovnik where you can spend the last days of your trip relaxing by the sea on Croatia’s dramatic Adriatic coast.

Prague by sleeper train

I am based in the beautiful city of Prague and this journey is one of my favourite routes when I’m heading back to the UK. Head to Prague by train with stop-offs in Amsterdam and Berlin. Journey out by bike from Amsterdam’s busy centre and glide past peaceful canal-side neighbourhoods. Take the train across Germany to the country’s vibrant capital of Berlin and soak up the buzzing atmosphere there.

Explore Prague’s maze of medieval streets, relax with a beer and some hearty local classics like Svíčková (slow cooked beef in cream sauce) in one of the city’s ubiquitous pubs. Let me know if you would like some recommendations!

Round off your trip on the Euronight sleeper train from Hlavní Nádraží (the main station). Get comfortable in your private cabin as the train picks up speed towards Austria. I recommend the dining car for Řízek (Snitzel) served with a freshly tapped Pilsner Beer. You’ll wake to glorious alpine scenery and breakfast served in your cabin as you slowly approach Zurich.
