Soak up the natural minerals at the historic Széchenyi Baths, where you can enjoy an impressive assortment of thermal pools. There are also saunas and steam rooms.
Visit a romkocsma, or 'ruin bar', in the city—old buildings transformed into bars with upcycled furniture. Szimpla Kert, the oldest and most famous, hosts live music and a Sunday flea market.
The 19th-century Dohány utcai zsinagóga (Great Synagogue) is Europe's largest and runs tours of the Jewish Quarter. The striped and domed Neo-Moorish building also houses the Hungarian Jewish Museum.
The Neo-Classical Szent István-bazilik (St Stephen's Basilica) has vibrant stained glass and a towering dome. Some tickets grant access to the terrace outside the cupola – the highest lookout in Pest.
