A sneak peek into Byway member holidays
Our slow travel membership is one of our favourite things about Byway. Our members share our passion and enthusiasm for slow travel and it’s a joy to be able to share tips, stories and experiences with each one another. Once a month we offer members an exclusive holiday to one of our favourite off-the-beaten track locations, where we’ve secured dates for members in some of our favourite hard-to-book stays. We organise holidays from door-to-door and provide a local guide to the area, filled with recommendations for our favourite activities and restaurants, for a hassle-free escape. With transport, accommodation, package protection and our Covid refund guarantee included, members can sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey.
This month’s member holiday is a slow travel experience in deepest Devon, sleeping in an off-grid cabin set in gorgeous countryside (dogs and children welcome), with Byway members receiving a special welcome gift on arrival from the lovely hosts Jo and Ben. An oasis of calm, there are wonderful walks, wild swimming and cosy pubs on the doorstep. Or for a bit more buzz, the seaside town of Bude and its lovely beach are 45 minute bus ride away, and the pretty market town of Okehampton is just 20 minutes down the road.
The off-grid cabins (sleeping 2-4 or 4-6), sitting in two acres of peaceful woodland, have been designed with a focus on style and sustainability: there's solar power, a circular approach to waste, eco-friendly toilets, home-grown food, natural water filtration systems, and to top it off, a flourishing wildlife pond and bee hives.
