Heads up: UK summer stays are filling up fast

Man and woman running on the beach in Cornwall.

As the weather warms and vaccinations accelerate, it's likely many of us will be holidaying close to home this year, away from the crowds. Perfect for a Byway! Last year summer staycations sold out in a flash when restrictions lifted, and we're already seeing a similar rush on bookings for summer 2021.

Some of our favourite hosts are already close to sold out in August and for much of July and September; start-of-year bookings have accelerated along with news of the vaccine, and their diaries were already pretty full with carried-over bookings from last year. You can see me (founder, Cat) talking to the Telegraph about it if you have subscription, or check out the BBC’s take here. So if you can, we suggest you book early to avoid disappointment.

Our ABTA bond covers you if Covid-19 means you can't travel, and our new year subscriber discounts are valid until the end of January (check your inbox, or sign up here).

While we'll bend over backwards to find you something wonderful no matter how late you book, we love it best when our favourite local stays are still on the table.
